The Steamboat Springs High School soccer team rode to a pair of easy wins in recent games as it worked its way through a long stretch of away games.

The Sailors beat Rifle on Tuesday, 9-0, to improve their season record to 7-2-1 and 7-2 in the Western Slope League.

Murphy Bohlmann, a junior, scored his fourth hat trick of the season in the game, scoring three goals. He wasn’t the only one to score three, however. Senior Nick Kocik also scored three times while Jake Berry added two goals and Quinn Connell one.

Dylan Worrell, Daniel Lopez and Alejo Quezada all notched assists.

The team won over the weekend playing at Palisade, 9-1, a strong rebound from a 5-3 overtime loss last week at Glenwood Springs.

Bohlmann and sophomore Jevon Hovey each scored two against Palisade while Peter Dohr, Matai Curzon, Noah Heckel, Cooper Puckett and Kevin Kaster all scored goals.

Connell, Lopez and Kaster each scored once against Glenwood.

Next up for the squad is a 6 p.m. game Thursday at Moffat County, 2-8 on the season.

Bohmann’s up to 18 goals on the season, which places him fourth in the state in any classes when it comes to scoring. He currently has five more goals than anyone else in the 4A Western Slope league.
