Saturday’s trip to Grand Junction to take on the Palisade Bulldogs was the Sailors third road trip in four games in just 8 days. With almost 1000 miles under their belts, the Sailors were able to get the scoring started early with a penalty kick goal by Senior Cruz Archuleta in the 23rd minute. The PK would prove to be the only goal the Sailors needed. Archuleta would get his second of the game in the 36 minute on an assist from Senior Will McConnell. Not to be outdone, Senior Lane Salyer would score on a pass from Senior Ross VanHara in the 40th minute to put the Sailors up 3-0 at the half.

Sophmore Murphy Bohlmann would find the back of the net twice, once in the 50th minute and again in the 54th minute, both on assists from VanHara who had 3 assists on the day. Archuleta would complete his hat trick with a goal in the 62nd minute off an assist by Junior Ben Anderson. Senior Goalkeeper Andrew McCowely was only tested a few time in the game and was able to get some time in the field when Bohlmann relieved him in net with 15 minutes left to play. Junior Jack Berry finished out the scoring for the Sailors in the 75th minute on a pass from Quinn Connell.

When the dust settled, the Sailors had 7 unanswered goals and their second league win of the season. The Sailors are now 3-1 on the season heading into one more road game at Eagle Valley HS on Tuesday Night at 6:00pm. Eagle Valley is currently 2-1 on the season, with wins over Rifle HS and Battle Mountain HS in overtime at home.
