The No. 7 Steamboat Springs High School girls soccer team (7-2, 5-1) dominated the field against the Eagle Valley Devils (2-5, 1-4) on Thursday, April 11, in Eagle.
The Sailors won the game 8-1 and jumped to a 5-0 lead at halftime behind three goals by senior Delaney Moon. Moon’s first came on a corner kick by junior Riley Hodges.
Senior Rachelle Koly added the second goal, then Moon added her second goal of the game off a penalty shot set up by a Devils’ handball in the box, then her third on a breakaway down field.
Junior Sophie Leeson closed the first half with the fifth goal for the Sailors.
Sophomore Mollie Brown kicked off the second half with the sixth goal of the game. Devils senior Zoe Booth knocked the first and only goal for Eagle Valley on a free kick to make it 6-1.
Freshman Courtney Vargas and Koly scored the final goals to make it 8-1.
